Dangerous running conditions will be likely on Sunday with record high temperatures possible across Southern California. A large area of high pressure overheard will be the culprit, leading to mostly sunny skies, light winds and high temperatures in the upper 80s to near 90 degrees.

Lows should start out in the mid 60s for the start, approaching the 70 degree mark by 10am. Temperatures should reach the 80 degree mark by Noon and the mid 80s by 2pm on the way to the upper 80s by 3pm or 4pm. Dew points should be in the 40s to near 50, so humidity levels will be low. Typically higher levels of humidity are felt with dew points in the 60s or higher.

This is still a dangerous heat as many of you may not be accustomed to it at this point. This could lead to heat illnesses such as heat exhaustion, heat cramps and even heat stroke. Know the signs and be careful out there. This forecast reminds me of the 2012 Boston Marathon which also featured temperatures in the 80s and sent a number of people to area hospitals because of the heat.

Shorts and a t-shirt will be good for the race. A hat and sunglasses may also be needed. Good luck out there and don’t forget your body glide!
